Tamerat Bekele – Chairperson Bsc, Msc, MBA,CDIP ACCA, MIAP, has extensive expertise both in public and private sectors. He began his career with a well-known city based Merchant Bank, where he worked on Investment Trust & Treasury Management. He then went on to become a Group Management Accountant with the London Borough of Newham.
In 1998 he moved into Dentistry and took a position as General Secretary for the East London & the City Local Dental Committee providing support for Dental Practitioners in East London and running a highly successful dental nurse training School. Currently, Mr Bekele is a Chairperson of WHEAT Mentor Support Trust.
Amare Desta PhD, MEd, MSc, LCGI, BSc (Hons), Professor of Information and Knowledge Management, earned his PhD and MSc from the London School of Economics (LSE) and a Master of Education (MEd) from University of Cambridge and BSc (Hons) degree in Computer Science from ARU in Cambridge, UK. He is very experienced and energetic educator with particular expertise & interest in research supervision, from undergraduate dissertations to PhDs with keen interest in developing students’ research skills. Currently he is actively engaged in his area of research interest and working as a Research Project Manager at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL). He is also a Director of Study & PhD/DBA Supervisor at the University of West of Scotland (UWS) and at the University of Wales, Trinity & Saint Davies (UWTSD) in London. He is an associate academic at London South Bank University and at Birkbeck University of London and an External Examiner at the LSE and at the University of West Indies Graduate School of Business.
Prof Desta is a Co-founder and Chair of the Global Knowledge Exchange Network (GKEN) www.gken.uk and a Director of the Ethiopian Doctoral & Masters Academy (EDMA) dedicated to help imbuing the future generations of African Scholars. Because of his passion for education and his various scholarly activities, he was chosen as one of the Five Most Outstanding Learners in the East Anglia region and in recognition he was awarded a prize by the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education and recently received a Lifetime Achievement Award by Anglia Ruskin University in November 2018.
Senay Nega BA (Honours), MSc (in progress), educational background and interest is Mathematics. He studied TTC – pedagogical education for Mathematics in a Teacher Training college in Eritrea. His studies at the University of East London for a Bachelor degree in “Accounting with Mathematics” enabled him to demonstrate the application of Statistics and other Mathematical applications in order to explain the financial reality of modern times. As a teacher, Senay helped students with special needs which prompted him to pursue his studies at master’s level in special needs education.
Senay has been an active member of the WHEAT Mentor Support Trust since 2010 mainly as a mentor assisting students in their preparation for the GCSE, AS and A2 exams as well as further and higher education. As a Mentor he has made significant difference in the lives of so many young people showing them the right direction.
He had demonstrated his communication and human relations skills with children and parents as well as fellow staff and volunteers. He has established strong connections with migrant communities exercising leadership roles. Senay has insatiable need to develop himself through day to day learning. Senay has worked for WHEAT Mentor Support Trust as its trustee treasurer for the last seven years.
Naglaa Sadik Ahmed Mustafa BSc (Honours), MPA, DPSI, MCI, became a trustee secretary since 2004 is the longest serving trustee of WHEAT Mentor Support Trust. She is the Founder and Director of Naglaa’s world Ltd. Her company provides interpreting, translation, typing, editing and proof-reading services to various communities migrant and nationals alike in English and Arabic languages.
Naglaa, a former journalist in the Sudan, has now become Arabic language assessor for the Chartered Institute of Linguists since 2009. Her mentorship experience at WHEAT Mentor Support Trust has enabled her to become a befriender for Brent, Wandsworth, and Westminster Mind for the last 12 years. Naglaa is also a secretary for Abdul Mageed Educational Trust starting from 2018.
