On the 4th of November 2020,

…a devastating war was waged on Tigray, Northern Ethiopia and still raging at an unprecedented scale. This genocidal war has left over 70,000 refugees fleeing to the sudan; about 3,000,000 internally displaced persons. and 8,000,000 people are in a dire need of humanitarian assistance.

Thousands of girls (as young as 6 years old) have been subjected to gang rape, sexual slavery, and other forms of sexual violence by allied forced of the Ethiopian and Eritrean Governments.

Over 75% of the children,

…who have fled are deprived of basic food, medical attention and education material. In addition most go through isolation, loneliness, trauma, culture shock, overcrowding, financial hardship to mention but a few.

The children’s educational system has not only been impacted by the war but also they have been out of school for 3 consecutive years since the Covid-19 pandemic.

WHEAT MST AND TYN

WHEAT Mentor Support Trust in partnership with Tigray Youth Network have started a School Meal Scheme to support school age Tigrayan refugee children to pursue their education and overcome their psychological trauma. Your urgent support is needed to rescue a generation from collapsing, which has a far reaching impact onto our global society.

After school programs: Mother tongue learning (Tigrinya), sports, arts (music, dance, cultural shows), story telling
Vocational training: In various trades for those who have missed formal education
